Back in November last year a lovely email dropped into my inbox asking if I’d be willing to photograph a surprise proposal. It’s something I haven’t done before but I was so excited when I read Sam’s email that I wanted to be involved.
Emails went backwards and forward for a couple of months explaining the location and the logistics of how and when it would take place. Sam wanted to propose outside Lower Slaughter Manor, a gorgeous venue in the heart of the Cotswolds. Perfect for a surprise proposal!
They have a stunning garden at the front which I was already familiar with and plenty hiding places for a photographer with a long lens! I arrived early on a beautifully sunny but cold December morning. Sam was going to take Emma for a walk before leading her back to the grounds of the manor house and then he would get down on one knee to propose.
Of course I had never met Sam or Emma before the day so had no idea what they looked like which added an extra layer of excitement (or should I say terror!) although I did ask Sam to tell me what they would be wearing so I could keep a lookout.
Finally a couple approached the grounds matching the description so I pretended to be taking pictures of the flowers before documenting their special moment.
If you’re planning a surprise proposal in the Cotswolds or in Oxfordshire and you would like me to photograph it, please get in touch.
