Kat & Ben’s beautiful Notley Abbey wedding took place one August day. The both live in London but decided to have a venue which was easy for friends and family to get to and that was set in stunning surroundings, hence choosing Notley Abbey for their big day. These guys were so amazing to work with, really lovely and laid back and they just completely enjoyed their day. Ben works in the music industry so music featured heavily – they had three separate bands throughout. Kat is a life coach and clearly has excellent taste with the colours and decor choices that she made.
I arrived in the morning at the venue to find Kat getting ready with her three bridesmaids. Hair and make-up were done by the fantastic duo Holly and Melissa for Oxford Wedding Hair & Make-up. I love working with these girls, they are total perfectionists and the results are always stunning. The gorgeous flowers were by local florists Twigs & Twine.
Kat’s beautiful dress was by Justin Alexander and her shoes were by Rainbow Club. The preparations were really chilled, I think you’d call it quiet yet industrious. Ben was getting ready in the cottage so it was easy to slip between the two and see how the boys were getting along. As bridal preps were nearing the end guests started to arrive and chat with Ben and his family.
Kat look incredible in her dress and her bridesmaids wore beautiful fuchsia colour dresses by Issa. Her Dad came in for the big reveal and was clearly emotional and very proud. The girls made their way downstairs though not before a few photographs and then made their way to the ceremony. Ben was waiting nervously at the front. They had beautiful musical accompaniment by Bowfiddle. Ben had written a song specially for Kat to be performed while they were signing the registers, what an incredible wedding gift!
After the ceremony it was canapés and champagne on the lawn and guests inside were entertained by a Jazz band – On The Rocks. while I took them for a little breather together and for some photographs of the two of them. The roses were out and I wanted to incorporate them into the images because the colours matched so beautifully with their own flowers. I’m surprised Kat didn’t have arm ache after holding the bouquet because it was so heavy but so incredibly photogenic just like the two of them.
The tables were named after legendary bands and the breakfast room looked really lovely. Their beautiful cake was by Cakes by Kit. After dinner the speeches took place and I really admire a bride who wants to get up and address her guests which is exactly what Kat did. They were incredibly funny and heart warming, exactly as they should be. With all of the formal part out of the way it was time for everyone to let their hair down and dance the night away to the Rockin Rythms‘. I had such a great day capturing their story, thank you Kat & Ben.
