Rose & Oli’s Merriscourt wedding was not what you’d describe as a traditional wedding and they very much did the day their way. I went to meet them on the wedding morning where they had all previously stayed the night before. Merriscourt have some beautiful cottages for guests to stay and each of them is very different. When I arrived Rose was surrounded by her best friends having her hair done by the lovely Cat of Makeup for Brides. The atmosphere was very relaxed and Rose & Oli didn’t stick with the tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding, they helped each other to get ready.
Rose’s beautifully simple two piece gown was by British bridal designer Andrea Hawkes. She chose to wear rose gold sandals and kept her jewellery very simple choosing to have some flowers in her hair. The gorgeous flowers including Rose’s massive bouquet were by Stacey of Wild Lily Flowers. The Groom’s suit was by Reiss.
They had decorated the venue beautifully with tons of bunting (who doesn’t love bunting) which looked incredible against the natural stone of the barn. Rose & Oli chose to do both their couple portraits and family group shots before their guests arrived which meant that they could spend plenty time greeting the people they had invited to share the day with them. Merriscourt has lots of beautiful nooks for photographs and at this time of year the gardens looked especially breathtaking with roses, lavender and dahlia’s in full bloom.
Rose & Oli bucked tradition again by walking into their ceremony together. Their vows were especially heartwarming with lots of emotion and a few tears. After the ceremony they were greeted with an explosion of confetti before enjoying canapes and champagne with their guests. Rose & Oli’s amazing cake was made by one of their friends and had a 3D printed version of them on the top – very freaky but very cool!
The couple had opted for long trestle tables so everyone could sit together which provided a lovely atmosphere and backdrop to the speeches which were performed throughout dinner. We managed to sneak out for a few more pictures as the sun promised to peep out from behind the clouds but sadly that was short lived and Rose & Oli went back inside to cut the cake and boogie the night away with the help of the Bowery Music Company. Thanks for inviting me to capture your special day, I had a blast!
