Winter weddings have a very different feel about them to summer ones. The contrast between the bluish cold looking light outside and the cosy warm orange glow of the inside, lit with candles, log fires and fairy lights is just magical so when Linda & Andrew asked me to photograph part of their wedding day in Oxford I was really excited.
Linda is from Finland so no stranger to the cold weather and Andrew is from London. Having attended University at St Edmunds they chose to get married in the Chapel and have their reception in the Old Dining Hall. Linda chose a stunning Charlie Brear gown accessorised with a fur jacket and berry coloured courts by Boden. Her hair and make-up was done by InParlour. Linda’s gorgeous flowers were by Charlie Quartley from The Flower Fairies, who I have been desperate to work with since I moved here as her flower creations are just so tasteful and beautiful. The boys suits were by Hugo Boss.
Linda got ready with her family at The Old Bank Hotel which is just across the road from the college. Over at St Edmunds guests arrived to a pre-wedding reception of warm mulled wine and mince pies which was a prefect warm up as the weather was a little chilly, though beautifully bright. Guests then made their way to the chapel and waited for the arrival of the bride. Linda looked beautiful and her Dad looked so proud. The wedding was an intimate affair with closest friends and family.
After the service Linda & Andrew wanted to go into Oxford for some pictures and especially wanted to have the Bridge of Sighs and the Radcliffe Camera included. They were great sports and never complained of being cold and as I always say cold weather is a great excuse to snuggle that bit closer!
After their photographs we made our way back to the Old Dining Hall for the speeches before dinner. The long tables had been decorated beautifully with details of both Winter and Finland. Linda’s Dad spoke proudly of his daughter and new son-in-law and it wasn’t long before the guests were served with dinner. Thank you Linda & Andrew for inviting me to be a part of your day.
